AT&T Smart Cities Operation Center
Data Visualization Design

Smart Cities Operations Center uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and highly secure connectivity, to develop and deploy solutions that address specific Miami-Dade County issues.

Live Panel Environment

Contains live data, drill down triggers on tiles, and sliding data points. This 9 panel spread is displayed on 9 1080x1920 TV screens.

The Problem: Previous SCOC version lacked a way to display additional information behind a given data-point tile. For example, city managers in the Water department needed to not only view the number of water capital projects, but also the amount of money that was spent on each capital project in a given year.
Form-Factor: Touchscreen Panel, 1920x1080 (TV). Desktop and Tablet.

Previous Version

The Solution: Create drill downs (or pop up modals) that would allow the user to see more charts, or data points. This helped the users in Miami-Dade county view more detailed information to make decisions for their city. City managers were able to print charts and tables directly from the panels for further viewing. Granular data was made readily available in one tap.
Goal Reached: Miami-Dade was able to better allocate funds and leverage the budget across all departments. This effort improved
communication, efficiencies and inter-operabilities between municipal employees across all departments.

1920x1080 Airport Panel

Drill Down on “Other Flights” tile shows granular data for the types of flights that fell in the “other” category.
